Maintenance of climbing ropes
A climbing rope that suits you must be carefully selected and cared for. After daily outdoor climbing, remember to take good care of it to better extend the life of the climbing rope.
Maintenance points:
Try not to lend your rope to others unless you want to climb with him. Don’t borrow someone else’s rope, because you don’t understand the story of the rope and the original owner.
Every rope should have a record of its use. Buy a booklet, start from the moment you buy it, and keep a brief and concise record after each use. For example: whether the appearance is abnormal, how many falls withstand, what is the situation of the fall, whether it has been pulled over rough or sharp terrain, whether it has been stepped on (this is particularly important when climbing streams and ice and snow), hooks, Whether the surface of the 8-shaped ring or ATC is worn (they will damage the rope skin), and other things that you think are important. These records can give you a better grasp of the condition of the rope, which is equivalent to every bit of your rock climbing.
When using a rope, try not to let it touch the ground. It is best to put it on a rope bag that can be completely flattened to reduce the chance of sand and gravel running into the rope.
