Rope inspection
Visual inspection
If the rope is inspected and found to have cuts or obvious wear, such rope must be scrapped because the strength of the entire rope is reduced. However, for double-braided ropes, because of the protection of the sheath, it is difficult to check the strength of the inner core, although the inner core is not easy to observe. However, if the rope is found to be cut or has obvious wear during the inspection, the rope must be replaced or the damaged area removed, and then the rope must be repaired with a suitable splicing method.
Rope inspection procedure
Any cable that has been in use for a period of time will experience normal wear and tear. Among the used ropes, some ropes have high strength and good wear resistance due to their own product characteristics, which are less abraded than other types of ropes.
The following is the relevant content of the regular inspection of the rope:
1. The length of the rope
2. The use time of the rope
3. Type of work undertaken
4. The degree of wear
5. The damaged location
6. The condition of damage, such as whether there are broken strands, twists, melting, and chemical contamination
In general, it is recommended: If the observed damage is local, it can be re-spliced to repair the cable. If the damaged area is too large, it is recommended to replace the rope.
